misha is a NY based performer with a preference for electric bass , but you might catch her on the guitar or the keyboard. With a flair for the dramatic and a sing-song sensibility- her simple emotional sound has been called both powerful and relatable. She fronts a NYC based band called Grace Beats Karma....a band with influences from gypsy to soul to country and ending up with a dark rock sound with a heavy dose pop and lyricism.... compared to Cowboy Junkies, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, The Violent Femmes etc. Misha as a solo compares herself to Brenda Lee, Axl Rose & Gladys Knight, but she is compared by others to- Tom Waits, Patti Smith, Cat Power, Joplin- and pretty much all 7 of the well-known female rock vocalists ;).... she is influenced by everything...being highly suggestable. and highly adaptable. She has done styles ranging from blues to pop punk--- jazz to emo ---- art rock to acoustic folk--- and she isn't ready to settle into one or the other. Misha has a passion for old soul music vocalists like Otis Redding, Etta James, James Brown and a love of country musics simple and clever lyricism like that of Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Kristofferson....and of course....misha likes rock....and has a guilty Guns N Roses fetish! She enjoys affecting people through all genres of music--- and is not a background scenery type of performer.... most of her 80+ song repetoire are originals, She enjoys touring and playing in & around NYC. . She enjoys live performance most and has been performing for years wherever they allow her to and is proud to say she has been to all of the inland 48 states to do it . The music is ever-evolving and always distinctively hers. misha is a little weirded out ....talking about herself in the 3rd person, too.
